Scope

Large-Scale Distributed Systems and Middleware (LADIS)
Sponsored by IBM and the Technion Electrical Engineering Department

Scope

The workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners in the fields of distributed systems and middleware. The workshop's goal is to promote the exchange of ideas about hot topics in large-scale distributed systems, including:
  • publish-subscribe systems,
  • scalable multicast technologies,
  • peer-to-peer computing,
  • storage services, and
  • replication

Particular attention will be given to challenges arising in these systems, such as fault-tolerance, security, scalability, spanning multiple administrative domains, and building middleware services.

Program Highlights

  • Keynote lectures by Ken Birman (Cornell), Maarten Van Steen (Vrije University)
  • Exchange of ideas sessions, limited to participants who are active in the field, which will include presentations of invited position papers and open discussions
  • Open sessions, which will be attended by researchers as well as graduate students and engineers from the Israeli hi-tech industry
