May 11, 2018 - Anti-Ransomware Product Developed by CCoE, Recognized by Security Division Award

Ransomware is a form of malicious software that prevents users from accessing their system and demands ransom payment to regain access. Recent waves of ransomware target database servers, aiming to hold captive the precious business data of enterprises, threatening to take companies to their knees. Addressing this critical cyber treat, CCoE researchers recently developed a unique security application that serves as a shield against ransomware attacks. This application, called RansomShield, uses a powerful AI-based approach to detect newly-introduced ("zero-day") ransomware across an organization's database server farm. In recognition for the team's innovation and influence on IBM's security immune system, the team was honored by a special cash award.

RansomShield is available for download on IBM Guardium App Exchange.
