Analyzing Genetic Sequences
We have applied Diamond to the problem of analyzing genetic sequences such as amino acid sequences, and gene sequences. We have used dynamic brushing together with Diamond parallel coordinate and category plots, to facilitate the fast visual detection of similar sequences. We use the category plot to color the most frequently occurring amino acid sequences in a bioinformatics database. We can then detect at a glance from the parallel coordinates plot that the green and yellow sequences differ in just one position, as shown below.
