The First Autonomic Computing Symposium held in Japan
A scene of the symposium |
To discuss the future of computing systems, forty one leading scientists and engineers gathered at IBM Amagi Homestead during August 25-27. This Amagi New IT Wave Symposium 2002: Autonomic Computing was the first conference in Japan that addresses technical issues of the growing complexity in developing and operating IT infrastructure. When computers were networked, people expected information technology to be the great enabler of a rich information society more than before. However, the reality is that the computer systems are getting harder to integrate and operate because of complex, distributed and heterogeneous computing environments. And system outages become even a social problem.
The keynote lecture by Kazuo Iwano, IBM Japan director |
The symposium on Autonomic Computing brought together visionaries from a variety of disciplines to analyze the problems of today's IT infrastructures, discuss approaches for solving them and propose a vision of the future IT infrastructure with cross-disciplinary collaborations in this urgent issue. Most presentation packages at the Symposium are available on the request to e03097@jp.ibm.com.
