What we do
Distributed
Application and Service Management
In
the network computing world of today, enterprise business applications
have evolved to take advantage of the services offered by wide area and
local area networks, intranets and the Internet. They have changed from
host-centric entities to completely distributed component-based structures
that are fundamentally different from their predecessors. Such distributed
applications are much more powerful than their predecessors in that their
services can now be offered to a wide, geographically dispersed clientele.
However, these applications are much more difficult to manage than their
host-centric equivalents, since they depend not on one type of localized
resource, but on a set of resources that are networked together.
They are composed of a set of distributed elements, each of which contributes
a specific function to the sum total of the services provided by the application.
Therefore, in some aspects, managing the evolving networked applications
of the future will involve the design and development of management algorithms
and systems that are capable of remotely managing a multitude of interrelated
entities.
