Mobile Network Computing Reference Specification (MNCRS)
The Mobile Network Computing Reference Specification, produced by a consortium of 18 companies, defines a set of standards for mobile Java devices.
Members of our group played a central role in the definition of the MNCRS data-synchronization framework.
An article by Gabriel Montenegro of Sun Microsystems, describing the MNCRS consortium and the specification itself, appeared in IEEE Internet Computing 2, No. 1 (January-February 1998), pages 73-77.
Our own paper discussing the framework was accepted for presentation at the Fifth IFCIS International Conference on Cooperative Information Systems (CoopIS 2000), Eilat, Israel, September 6-8, 2000.
See the MNCRS web site, www.mncrs.org, for version 1.1 of the Specification, supplemental material, and information about the consortium.
