Inbox The in-box has become a second home to many email users. To encourage better organization, understanding, and management of mail through this view, we have introduced a number of innovations to the in-box list. List Separators The most striking change to the list view is the addition of list separators. As with a traditional in-box, column headers are used to display message information, and these columns can be used for sorting purposes. In our list, sorting goes further to vertically divide the list of messages into collapsible sections. For example, if the list is sorted by time, there is a divider for each day. Each divider has the expand/collapse control that allows the user to hide/show the contents of the list for any particular section. This simplifies the list and chunks the information into useful groupings. ![]() Annotations There are instances where a user would like to categorize their messages. For example, a user may want a visual indication of messages that need an urgent response. We have added the ability to mark any message in the list with a color, allowing people to annotate their email according to their own preferences.
