Chat Chat has become another important communication tool, allowing people to communicate faster and be more responsive. Once integrated into Remail, the option to chat becomes another seamless channel. Any name (in an address field) that the system can recognize is treated as a live name and can be used as the launching point for a new chat.
An issue with chat is that it is often difficult to archive a chat and extract important information from it after it has been closed. To overcome this problem, we allow people to save their chats and store them within the in-box, giving them the same abilities to search and organize them as regular email. In addition, a chat may be started from a thread and saved as part of it.
An innovation that we introduced with the Remail chat component is the sign-off message. When a user closes a chat window, a message is inserted into the other participant's conversation stream, indicating that the chat partner has left the session. This indication reduces any confusion regarding whether or not a chat has come to completion. |
