This page is dedicated to Rolf Landauer (1927-1999)
who is largely responsible for making the physics of information a serious subject of scientific study.
During his long career at IBM Research, he continually emphasized the connection
between information processing and fundamental laws of physics, and discovered the
connection between logical irreversibility and heat generation by computers now known
as Landauer's principle. Our group's work main work is in quantum information and
computation theory, but we also study other aspects of the relation between physics
and information processing.
