I am a Senior Technical Staff Member at the IBM
T.J. Watson Research Center where I lead the Agent
Building and Learning Environment project. I've worked at IBM in Rochester, MN since 1988.
For the first 11 years, I led several product development teams in the general area of data mining
and business intelligence. Since 1999, I have worked at IBM Research applying machine learning and
reasoning techniques to IBM products and services. My research interests include:
-
Intelligent agents, multi-agent systems, agent-based modeling and simulation, and applications
-
Soft computing techniques such as neural networks, fuzzy rule systems,
and genetic algorithms
-
Applied artificial intelligence in almost any domain
My publications include "Constructing Intelligent Agents using Java", now in its second edition.
I was elected to membership in the
IBM Academy of Technology in 1996 for my work on the commercialization
of neural network technology. I am also an IBM Master Inventor which means I have spent a lot of time
writing and reviewing patent applications. I have an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Lehigh University,
Bethlehem, PA, and a B.S. in Computer Science from Villanova University,
Villanova, PA.
Experience
