Research
Activities and Projects
I am currently a member of the Visual Analysis group at IBM Research, in the Visual Technologies department.
Some of the projects I have worked on are image
semantic modeling, Bussines@Glance, and brain tumor analysis and reconstruction. Also, I am
an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing.
At Bell Laboratories, I was involved in the design of the image retrieval system for electronic retailing, interior decoration, design
and digital museums. I also worked on color quantization and processing of
palletized images, as well as on the color features and color matching
algorithms that are better matched to human perception.
During my graduate studies I
was mainly involved in the design and applications of wavelets and filterbanks
for texture characterization. I also did a lot of work in medical imaging,
particularly in ultrasonic tissue characterization and
segmentation.
