At present, I am investigating all aspects of policy-based management systems. Policy-based management systems (or simply, the policy middleware) provides the foundation for the management of IT infrastructure by the means of declarative policies. My research work includes the architecture and software design of policy systems, policy information models, languages, evaluation engines, and automated analysis of policies.

I have also been working on the side on privacy and security of digital communications. This work includes analyzing electromagnetic radiation emminating from smart cards. The electromagnetic radiation can compromise the security of a computing device such as the smart cards. I am also interested in precisely quatifying privacy in data mining algorithms and anonymity systems. I wish I could devote more time to privacy and security issues in digital communications, but my work in policy technologies keeps me busy.

In past, I have worked on modelling and evaluating different components of Internet infrastructure. In particular, I worked in finding out what caused download delays when surfing the Internet and how this delay could be minimized. I have worked on designing systems and algorithms for content distribution networks which can be used to speed up surfing on the web. My doctoral thesis was in the Information Theory where I analyzed the turbo decoding algorithm and the generalized minimum distance decoding algorithm. Before that, I worked on magnetic recording systems for my master's thesis.
