Abstract:
In this paper, we consider noncoherent multi-symbol detection of factor-graph codes over Rayleigh fading channels. We use block diferential encoding together with a joint demodulation and iterative decoding algorithm to eliminate the pilot overhead required for coherent detection. Simulations using turbo codes and repeat-accumulate codes show that as the length of the coherence interval increases, performance of the proposed noncoherent detector approaches that of the coherent detector.
