Biography
I was born in Bikaner, Rajasthan, India. I received a B.Tech. in 1993 from the Indian Institute of Technology–Kanpur (IITK), a M.S. in 1995 from the Washington University, St. Louis, MO (WashU), and a Ph.D. in 1999 from the University of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), Urbana, IL, all in electrical engineering.

I worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor at UIUC during 1999-2000. After that, I joined T. J. Watson Research Center, IBM Corporation, Hawthorne, NY as a Research Staff Member where I am working at present (and playing with computers to my heart's content).

I was awarded a certificate of merit for securing the second rank in the Indian National Mathematical Olympiads 1988. I received the Robert T. Chen Memorial Award for 1999 for excellence in doctoral research in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UIUC. I also received the Ross J. Martin Memorial Award for 2000 for outstanding research achievement by a graduate student in the College of Engineering at UIUC. Most recently, I was awarded the IBM Research Division Award for contributing to the architecture of IBM Autonomic Computing Policy Infrastructure and Products.
