Mirroring and replication are common techniques for ensuring fault-tolerance and
resiliency of client-server applications. Such mirroring and replication procedures
are typically manual and cumbersome. In this paper, we present an architecture
that can automate the processes of finding good sites for creating replicated
servers, and creating replicas of applications. The scheme is based on the notion
of a self-configuring mesh of computers that provides an efficient autonomic broadcast
medium, locates potential replicas on the broadcast medium, and communicates with
them to launch mirror servers automatically.
