Demonstrations of IBM Transcoding Technology We have developed several demos that will let you try out IBM transcoding technologies on
Internet content. The first demo allows you to point-and-click and select different transcoding options to retrieve transcoded Web pages. The second demo allows to you to use the IBM transcoding proxy as your Internet proxy so that you can browse the Web while retrieving transcoded content. You can also
download the second demo from IBM alphaworks and try out for your own Intra- and Internet content. Point-n-click IBM transcoder - In the
point-and-click demo, type in the URL of the Web page you would like to access. Then adjust the transcoding options for text and images, respectively.
For html text, you have the following seven transcoding options:
- No transcoding,
- strip comments,
- strip javascripts,
- small image display,
- tables to lists,
- remove images, and
- text summary.
For images, you have the following six options:
- No transcoding,
- PDA (2 bits/pixel),
- hand-held computer (gray level),
- fast image download,
- blank image, and
- reduced color.
Then click "Go get it" to retrieve the transcoded Web page. Once the page is displayed, you will be able to click the links in order to continue to retrieve transcoded versions of the linked Web pages. To
change your transcoding options, return the the Point-n-click IBM transcoder
page.
