About the Panelists
Sudhir Aggarwal
Professor, Dept. of Computer Science, Florida State University
From Aug. 2002 to Aug. 2005, Sudhir Aggarwal served as Professor and Chair in the Dept of Computer Science at Florida State University. Before joing FSU he was a Director, CTO and MTS in Bell Laboratories / Lucent Technologies. Prof. Aggarwal’s current research interests are computer and communication networks where he is investigating support infrastructures for network games and building efficient overlay networks. He is also interested in building software tools in support of cybersecurity and law enforcement. His research interests have included problems in distributed and real-time system; design, analysis and verification of communication protocols; search engines; and modeling and simulation.
David Brandt
Senior Network Programmer, CCP
David Brandt joined CCP in 2002 to bring scalability to the MMORPG
"EVE Online". Previously, David worked for OZ.COM in cooperation with
Ericsson, among other things designing and implementing the OORPC layer for
distributed instant messaging systems.
Grantley Day
Director Online Gaming, Atari
Before joining Atari, Grantley Day was the Director of PC Development for Namco. He also founded Techhand Inc., the developer of a massively multiplayer online trading card game. Grantley created the game's design and server-based technology, as well as the overall business plan. Before founding Techhand Inc., Grantley spent five years at Electronic Arts. He served as the Director of Development for the Maxis division at EA, contributing to The Sims Online integration effort and managing the online presence for Sim-based products, including Sim City and The Sims.
Amy Lipton
Director of Marketing, Media and Entertainment and Digital Media, IBM
Amy Lipton, Director of Marketing, IBM Digital Media, is responsible for the marketing and strategy development of IBM’s digital media solutions which extend new and existing e-business applications to the emerging rich-media market for organizations that are deploying them. IBM has pioneered digital media across many industries and geographic locations and together with leading partners, has developed digital media solutions in the retail, telecommunications, government, media and entertainment, and financial services industries. Amy’s IBM career spans 20 years helping a variety of customers use emerging technologies for competitive business advantage. She has extensive experience applying e-business technology in consumer packaged goods, pharmaceuticals, media and entertainment industries, including the game industry sector. A graduate of Syracuse University, she earned a master’s degree in technical communication at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Tim Perry
Technical Director, Atari
Before joining Atari, Tim Perry was with Sony Online Entertainment
working on Star Wars:Galaxies where his job was the make the game "more
fun." Tim has been a client-side game programmer for a number of popular
games including Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault (2004), Thief: Deadly Shadows
(2004), Deus Ex: Invisible War (2003), and Freelancer (2003).
