Nanoscale thermal phenomena are explored for applications in nanoelectronics and energy conversion.

The metrology associated with thermal transport at the nanoscale requires sophisticated tools and methods. Our experimental setups benefit from an optimal lab environment inside IBM’s noisefree labs.

Applications of interest include conventional and unconventional nanoscale devices,
neuromorphic devices, molecular electronics and thermoelectricity.

Projects and collaborations

Projects include the EU projects Nanoheat, Molesco, Connect, Swiss Science Foundation (SNF grant 134777), and the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (grant SI/501093-01). Collaboration partners include the groups of Prof. A. Stemmer (ETH Zurich, Switzerland) and Dr. Oscar Custance (NIMS, Japan).
