Established in 1972, IBM Research – Haifa has conducted decades of research that has been vital to IBM's success. IBM scientists in Haifa conduct research that leads to innovative breakthroughs and publications, patent leadership, and the formation of industry standards. The applied research taking place helps solve customer challenges and serves as a bridge between academia and industry, allowing technology to seamlessly transfer from the lab to real-world situations.
Scientists in Haifa are active in a range of research areas including computer science, electrical engineering, mathematical sciences and industrial engineering. The research work is conducted in four departments: Information and Interaction, Software and Services, System Technologies and Services, and Verification and Analytics, with projects in areas such as healthcare and life sciences, machine learning and analytics, cloud computing and virtualization, social analytics, verification technologies, information retrieval, storage research, programming environments, business transformation and optimization technologies.
