Biographical sketches of authors

Jeanne W. Ross MIT Center for Information Systems Research, 3 Cambridge Center, NE20-336, Cambridge, MA 02142 (jross@mit.edu). Dr. Ross is Principal Research Scientist at the Center for Information Systems Research of the MIT Sloan School of Management, where she lectures, conducts research, and directs executive education courses on IT management practices. Her research examines organizational and performance implications of enterprise initiatives related to IT architecture, governance, and new IT management practices. Her recent work includes IT Governance: How Top Performers Manage IT Decisions Rights for Superior Results, coauthored with Peter Weill, which will be published by Harvard Business School Press in Spring 2004.

George Westerman MIT Center for Information Systems Research, 3 Cambridge Center, NE20-336, Cambridge, MA 02142 (georgew@mit.edu). Dr. Westerman is a Research Scientist at the Center for Information Systems Research of the MIT Sloan School of Management. His research and teaching examine how firms can effectively integrate people and processes across organizational boundaries (whether between business units or between firms). His studies of multichannel e-business have been featured by the National Retail Federation and the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. Prior to earning his doctorate at Harvard Business School, he gained over a dozen years of experience in IT consulting and management.
