Biographical sketch of author

Gregory D. Abowd

College of Computing, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia 30332-0280 (electronic mail: abowd@cc.gatech.edu). Dr. Abowd is an assistant professor in the College of Computing and the Graphics, Visualization, and Usability Center at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research interests include software engineering and human-computer interaction, with particular focus on mobile and ubiquitous computing applications. Dr. Abowd received a B.S. degree in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, in 1986, and the M.Sc. (1987) and D.Phil. (1991) degrees in computation from the University of Oxford, England. His more than 60 technical publications include a textbook on human-computer interaction published by Prentice Hall. He is a member of the IEEE Computer Society and the ACM.
