Message from Nicholas M. Donofrio, Senior Vice President, Manufacturing and Technology

An important part of IBM's efforts to foster diversity in the work force has been our continuing support of the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) since its founding a quarter century ago. This issue of the IBM Journal of Research and Development is dedicated to the more than 7000 men and women who have gone through college with scholarship support from that nonprofit organization.

Our support of NACME is unwavering. The impressive contributions made thus far by those men and women are only a prelude to what the future will bring.
