First SSME National Workshop in Bangalore
The emerging area of Services Sciences Management and Engineering (SSME) balances three key factors: business value, IT process, and organizational culture. It explores the current and future processes of business, as well as human, technological and strategic elements. About 50 delegates from top companies attended the workshop; This included: IT companies such as Infosys, HP, American Express, Citi Group etc; Consulting companies such as Mindtree Consulting; Top tech and management schools such as IITs, IIMs,Oxford University; and The Apex body of IT Hardware in India such as MAITamongst others. "It's imperative for the industry, academia and government to work closely and become more systematic about innovation in services and develop a science of services," said Stuart Feldman, vice president of computer science at Research at the first SSME National Workshop held recently in Bangalore, India. "Services are a dominant aspect of developed economies; however, they are under-studied and under-taught in most universities. The good news is that more universities are embracing services as a science and taking a multi-disciplinary approach."
