Ravi Kothari elected to IBM Academy
Ravi Kothari has recently been elected to the IBM Academy of Technology. New members are elected by the Academy membership in recognition of their outstanding technical accomplishments, leadership and contributions to the business. It is clearly a well deserved honor for Ravi and a matter of pride for IBM India Research Lab. Ravi began his professional career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science (ECECS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) in 1992 where he later became a tenured Associate Professor and Director of the Artificial Neural Systems Laboratory. Since 2002, he has been with IBM Research (India Research Lab., New Delhi). His theoretical expertise centers around pattern recognition, machine learning, self-organization and mathematical modeling. Of late, he has been involved in applying these technologies to systems management and related areas. Ravi is a member of Sigma Xi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Phi Kappa Phi. He serves or has served as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, Pattern Analysis and Applications (Springer) as well as on the program committees of various conferences. He is an IEEE Distinguished Visitor (2003–2005 and 2006-2009).
