Raghuram Krishnapuram received President’s Award Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, His Excellency the President of India recently Awarded Dr. Raghuram Krishnapuram for his technical excellence and inspiration to the technical community in IBM India. Raghu has contributed to several highly innovative projects at IBM, many of which have been termed Research Accomplishments. Also present on the occasion were Samuel Palmisano, Chairman, IBM and other dignitaries. Raghu has had a highly distinguished track record. He earned his PhD in computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1987 and spent over a decade as an academician in some of the top Universities in the United States. Raghu is Senior Manager of the Information Management Department at the India Research Lab and member of the IBM Academy of Technology & IEEE Fellow, with responsibility for a team of over 25 researchers and contribution to IBM's research strategy in the area of Information and Interaction. Raghu has filed fifteen patent applications in the last five years, of which two have been granted and others are pending. He is a co-author of the book Fuzzy Models and Algorithms for Pattern Recognition and Image Processing. Raghu is also author of ten book chapters, four plenary/semi-plenary talks, and over a 160 journal and conference publications.
