IRL, IITB Joint Workshop on Information Integration
IBM India Research Lab, in collaboration with IIT Bombay, recently organized a joint workshop on Information Integration. Faced with growing knowledge management needs, enterprises are increasingly realizing the importance of seamlessly integrating critical business information distributed across both structured and unstructured data sources to gain critical insights into customer trends, fraud and market trends. This aim of the workshop was to bring researchers and practitioner both from academic institutes and industry, and discuss recent research problems and industry pain points in data integration including both structured and unstructured data and related areas.

Some of the discussion topics included: Context-Oriented/Event-Based/On-Demand/ information integration, Fuzzy or Imprecise Information, Linking unstructured data with structured data, Visualization and alternative query interfaces for noisy, structured/unstructured data, Semantic search in an enterprise setting, Information Protection, Compliance, and Governance and Information Cleansing, Profiling, Analyzing.
