The Information Retrieval and Analysis Group
Welcome to the home page for the Information Retrieval and Analysis
Group at the T.J. Watson Research
Center of the IBM Research Division.
Our work focusses on
-
Analysis of text to extract information from it;
-
Using the extracted information in applications to help people get value
from networked access to large text collections, such as digital libraries.
This page has information on our major projects
and the people in the group.
The group's major projects:
TALENT (Text
Analysis and Language Engineering Technology): These tools analyze
text and extract meaningful lexical information from it. With this information
we can build applications such as
Lexical
Navigation: A protoype application which shows how extracted information
can be browsed and navigated to enhance information discovery and search.
Categorization: A suite of tools for assigning documents to a
set of categories by subject matter.
Document Representation: Summaries and condensed representations
of documents as an aid to rapid browsing and understanding.
