Summary of features

At the heart of the Pro/3000 Digital Imaging System is a digital camera, the Pro/3000 digital camera, that produces very high quality images that feature a high (3072 by 4000 pixel) resolution, a high (over 3000:1) signal to noise ratio, and accurate (colorimetric and calibrated) color.

The Pro/3000 is especially well-suited to the capture of originals, as it does not require them to be absolutely flat, it accurately captures color from originals (which most other scanners do not) and it uses quartz halogen illumination, which has low ultraviolet content.

Configurations

Limitations and details

  1. The Pro/3000 is an IBM Research offering and is not an IBM product. It does not come with a warranty, although the Pro/3000 will be repaired, without charge, for 90 days. Subsequent repairs to the Pro/3000 would be undertaken at the IBM Yorktown (NY) site for the cost of labor and materials. The companion software package, PISA95, runs only on the OS/2 operating system; WINPISA runs only on the Windows NT operating system.
  2. When scanning originals less than 4" by 5" in size, or when scanning book pages using the configuration B book easel, the maximum scan resolution is 3072 by 2460 pixels.
  3. The quartz halogen illumination uses ANSI code ENH lamps.
  4. The transmissive illumination produces a 10" by 10" field, with +/- 5% uniformity.
  5. The Pro/3000 digital camera and camera controller are UL and C-UL listed.
