On May 18-19, IBM hosted a major customer symposium on "Privacy in a Networked World: Demands, Technologies, and Opportunities." The forum focused on how Internet privacy is shaping international political and electronic commerce agendas, and on understanding the underlying technological considerations of deploying privacy policies on the Web.

The symposium presented some of the leading U.S. government, academic and industry experts on Internet privacy -- from Ira Magaziner, senior advisor to President Clinton on Internet issues, to a Federal Trade Commission executive, to national and international academic experts in privacy law, to I/T industry icon Esther Dyson, to IBM's own experts, as well as business leaders from among IBM's own customers and industry associations.
