IBM Proactive Technology Online

Overview

Proactive event-driven computing is the ability to mitigate or eliminate undesired states, or capitalize on predicted opportunities—in advance. This is accomplished through the online forecasting of future events, the analysis of events coming from many sources, and the application of online decision-making processes.

The team has developed IBM Proactive Technology Online. It is a platform that is a scalable integrated platform to support the development, deployment, and maintenance of proactive event-driven applications. With the proactive platform smarter actions can be taken ahead of time.

  • Ahead of time - By forecasting problems or opportunities before they happen, IBM Proactive Technology Online can devise a plan and act in a timely manner.
  • Smarter actions - Take advantage of advanced detection to plan and execute preventative actions.
  • User-based decisions - the unique proactive logic for events, rules, and forecasting analytics is built, deployed, and maintained by the end user.

Capabilities

  • Detect events and situations using enhanced event processing techniques.
  • Forecast future events and states that are unexpected, before they occur. Forecasting is done by observing the on-going events and using predictive analytics techniques.
  • Decide, within time constraints, how to handle these forecasted events and states using real-time optimization techniques.
  • Act in the best way possible by adapting (e.g., re-plan/optimize) the operational system to either mitigate or mitigate the problem. Alternatively to reach the desired opportunity.

The proactive platform has a single programming model and user interface for designing a proactive application that incorporates the four phases of detect-forecast-decide-act.

The proactive platform also includes an integrated run-time platform to develop, deploy, and maintain proactive applications.
