A high school student (Arthur Befumo) and an IBMer (Jonathan Lenchner) wrote a paper "Extensions of Golomb's Tromino Theorem" (http://www.research.ibm.com/people/l/lenchner/docs/polyom.pdf) that solves this month's problem.
