IBM establishes new Systems and Technology Group Lab in Israel
Alain Azagury named Director of the new STG Lab
April 16, Haifa Israel - IBM announced that it is forming a new Systems and Technology Group Lab in Israel and that Alain Azagury will be moving on to the newly created role of Director, STG Lab in Israel. The new STG Lab will build on the achievements of the current leadership team from the Haifa Development Lab and from the recent IBM acquisitions in Israel. The Lab will leverage the deep technology skills and the creativity of the Israeli industry to create a unique organization that will attract top talent to IBM’s System & Technology Group.
"The establishment of the new STG Lab in Israel creates a very strong momentum for our development activities in Israel." noted Meir Nissensohn, General Manager of IBM Israel. "I’m confident that Alain’s accomplishments and expertise in storage and systems strategy will bring even greater results in the near future."
In his new role as director, Azagury will be responsible for coordinating storage development activities in Israel and leading the circuit and logic design technologies. Alain brings with him a wealth of experience from senior positions in IBM. To take on the new position, Alain will complete his assignment as Director of Service Product Technology, reporting to Robert Morris, VP, Services Strategy. Before that, Alain was Senior Manager of the Storage and Systems Department at the IBM Haifa Research Lab, where his expertise spanned distributed and fault tolerant systems, storage systems and copy services, file systems, object storage, iSCSI and Memory Management.
"I am thrilled to join a world class team, which has a long history of infusing innovation into IBM's products," explained Azagury. "Our vision is to go forward, excelling in development methodologies while embracing the most advanced development standards."
With the establishment of the new IBM STG Lab, the IBM R&D Labs in Israel have a firm representation of the IBM divisions dedicated to infrastructure solutions and technologies. The STG Lab will work closely with its sister labs in Israel: the long-established Haifa Research Lab directed by Oded Cohn and the more recently established Software Lab headed by Daniel Yellin. Together, the three labs employ over 700 researchers and developers, whose innovations bring solutions to IBM clients both in Israel and abroad.
