SIP Container
A SIP servlet engine (SIP Container) is based on the SIP Servlet API 1.0 (JSR 116). JSR 116 introduced the SIP Servlets API, which is similar in many ways to the HTTP Servlets API, and eases the development of SIP-based services. The container allows SIP-based services to be developed as pluggable servlets, where many servlets can co-exist. In addition, the servlet container provides the network services over which requests and responses are received and sent. It decides which applications to invoke and in what order. The container also contains and manages servlets through their life cycle.
The SIP Container is integrated with WAS 6.1 Network Deployment, as well as the upcomming WAS 6.1 XD.
