IBM Israel Software Lab (ILSL)

The Optim Data Redaction team, centered in Jerusalem, Israel, is responsible for a new product, first released to market in March 2010.

The product automatically deletes sensitive information from documents based on regulatory policy. It uses advanced Optical Character Recognition, form analysis, and entity extraction to handle both unstructured text and forms. As an industry-leading redaction system, it plays an important role in the IBM strategy for privacy compliance.

Originally sponsored by the late IBM Fellow Ed Kahan, the seed project won the sponsorship of the Optim product group, and is now working on its second major release.

The team is responsible for development of the Redaction server as well as the web-based review tool and other components. We collaborate with Marketing to raise market awareness (White Paper), and work closely with Optim services worldwide to support customers and drive growth of the product.
