IBM Classification Module

IBM Classification Module (ICM) automatically classifies non-formatted, long form requests such as emails, case management notes, discussion group comments, and documents by a pre-defined taxonomy. It uses supervised learning for bootstrapping, and real-time learning to improve performance. ICM also employs sophisticated natural language processing and machine learning techniques. ICM consists of a client-server platform for classification and learning, and a Windows-based tool for bootstrapping, maintenance, tuning, and reporting the classification performance.

ICM is used for a wide range of applications that require unstructured content to be automatically categorized. Examples of such applications include document classification and taxonomy automation within Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems, e-mail classification and routing, auto-response and archive tagging, records class and retention policy assignment for records management, and Web self-service solutions.
