Compiler Technology

Overview

The Compiler Technologies group specializes in compiler optimizations. We are currently engaged in improving the GCC compiler of the Free Software Foundation (FSF). Our motivation is to improve performance for PowerPC (R) and Altivec (trademark of Motolora Inc) architectures in accordance with the FSF guidelines. These optimizations include auto-vectorization (see http://gcc.gnu.org/projects/tree-ssa/vectorization.html), instruction scheduling including modulo-scheduling, and more.

Previous engagements, include Just-in-Time compilation of Java for AS/400 (JIT400), compilation for the innovative DSP architecture (eLite), backend optimizations for AS/400's Optimizing Translator (OX).
