Compiler Technologies

The Compiler Technologies group specializes in compiler analyses and optimizations, aiming to exploit the capabilities of underlying platforms and environments. We focus primarily on developing and contributing optimizations for IBM architectures, including Power 7 (and previous vesions) and PowerEN, as well as additional architectures. Our contributions provide significant impact for IBM's Linux Technology Center, Microelectronics Division, and other initiatives in IBM and its customers. Main current interests involve dynamic optimization, support for hybrid multicore platforms, and interactions between compilation and other tools. Areas of expertise include automatic vectorization, use of machine learning in compilation, data layout transformations, streaming parallelism, and supporting PowerPC and related architectures.

Our group is an active member of the HiPEAC network of excellence and the ERA (embedded reconfigurable architecture) EU project.
