November 12-13, 2017 - International Capture the Flag Event in Beer Sheva co-led by CCoE
A group of college and high school students stayed awake and connected for 36 hours straight at Ben-Gurion University while solving a set of mind-boggling cyber challenges as part of Cyber Security Awareness Week (CSAW). The teams at BGU worked on the problems while competing against participants from six global locations. Researchers from IBM's CCoE and the BGU Department of Software Information and Systems Engineering co-led the event, which tested the contestants' abilities to handle challenges in the areas of network and software vulnerabilities, cryptography, and penetration testing under time pressure. The competition was part of the global CSAW event, organized by New York University, and which took place for the first time in Israel, with sponsorships from IBM, the BGU SISE Department, and the Cyber@Ben-Gurion Labs.
