IBM's Haifa Research Center is seeking candidates for Research Staff Member positions in virtualization and system architecture. In general, these positions involve the generation of highly novel ideas to improve various aspects of system virtualization such as availability, security, manageability, performance, and efficiency of resource usage.. Responsibilities involve invention and design of new approaches to advance the state-of-art by offering novel functionality and improving products, processes and practices. This role also includes the dissemination, internally and externally, of results of such innovation activities through publications, patent disclosures, seminar participation, internal documentation, etc. More specifically, we are looking for candidates with demonstrated research ability in the area of virtualization including Linux kernel development experience (preferably but not limited to KVM), virtualization performance evaluation and ppen source work experience. Demonstration of novel ideas is often done through prototypes that involve sophisticated design, implementation, and system bring-up efforts. Successful candidates will have deep knowledge in one or more of the above areas and the demonstrated ability to carry their ideas through to the prototype and implementation level.
Preferred:
- Doctorate Degree in Engineering
- At least 1 year experience in demonstrated research capability in virtualization
- At least 1 year experience in System architecture, or
- At least 1 year experience in Linux kernel development, or
- At least 1 year experience in Virtualization development (e.g., KVM), or
- At least 1 year experience ) virtualization performance evaluation
