On Demand Service Platform for Online Games

Deploying a large, dedicated server infrastructure to support a few game titles is a risky and expensive approach that does not make the best use of available resources. In this project, we are developing a shared, on-demand service platform, along with a set of communications and data management services, for hosting on-line games based on grid technology.

The FOAK service platform aims to help game publishers move from a dedicated, inflexible infrastructure with specialized deployments for various game functions, to a shared, virtualized, on-demand infrastructure that supports many different games and functions.

Platform functionality

  • Server and network provisioning and management
  • Game partitioning and migration
  • Player, publisher, and system administrator services
