This animation is a 365 day time series of vegetative productivity. Vegetative productivity is an indicator of plant growth. The digital elevation (ARC grid), rivers (ARC line coverage), and lakes (ARC coverage) were converted to Data Explorer format utilizing the gis2dx conversion tool. The vegetative productivity value measured is photosynthesis and was mapped onto the digital elevation and colored from blue, representing low productivity, to red, representing high photosynthesis productivity.
The mpeg was created by the University of Montana Distributed Applications and Systems Lab, with continuing support from the National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Department of Energy and the USDA Forest Service.
