Game 4, black
35...Rxg4
Commentary for black move 35:
MAURICE ASHLEY: A quick turn. And again, this is always right
ready to jump on the bandwagon when it sees Deep Blue play a
couple of funny looking moves. And right now it does look faz
Kasparov has total command of the position. That rook on the
seventh rank a second ago we didn't see that but now it's just
active behind the pawns, the principle we all knew when we
were
beginners and you used it so many times when you first learned
it you posted your rook on the seventh and started eating
stuff.
DB MOVE: 35 Nce2.
GK MOVE: 35...Rxg4
MAURICE ASHLEY: And now pawns are even, but look at white's
pawns, they are disgusting! (Audience laughter.)
YASSER SEIRAWAN: Well put, well put.
MAURICE ASHLEY: I've never seen pawns so lonely.
YASSER SEIRAWAN: We've got every kind of weakness that we
can
imagine. We've got the plit pawns on the queen-side, double
pawns on the center --
MAURICE ASHLEY: Doubled, isolated -- isolated h-pawn.
YASSER SEIRAWAN: There we go. Looks very ugly.
MAURICE ASHLEY: Isolated, doubled isolated, isolated. And what
does white have for it? Nothing.
YASSER SEIRAWAN: His pieces are not coordinated at all,
especially the rooks, whereas black's pieces, Garry's pieces
are looking -- the rooks are looking very good. Rf2 is on the
agenda, and Re4 is on the agenda. Lots of threats for Garry,
and Fritz --
MAURICE ASHLEY: Fritz thinks Garry is significantly better, but
not quite a pawn yet, but I think Fritz is going to change that
in a few moves. I think it's clear that black is much better
in this position.
YASSER SEIRAWAN: Yes.
MAURICE ASHLEY: There's no way to -- well, we had said a
pawn is
a pawn, and I'm sure now Susan Polgar is saying, "Well, there's
no pawn!" (Audience laughter.) Where did it go?
