Commentary for black move 34:
YASSER SEIRAWAN: Clearly. But I'm finding myself more and
more
perplexed by Deep Blue's moves. I don't understand these
endgame motifs. Garry's last move of a powerful move, he
brings his rook to the seventh rank, and now he can follow it
up with the natural Rf2-g2. That would attack the g4 pawn,
prepare the other rook to come down the board, and let's just
imagine that Deep Blue likes to hold onto his pawns --
GK MOVE: 34...H g2
MAURICE ASHLEY: That g-pawn, I don't think that's a pawn Deep
Blue can give up.
YASSER SEIRAWAN: Assume that Deep Blue tries to keep it for
just
a moment, g4-g5, then either the immediate Rf8-f2, or even
Ne6xd4 e3xd4 knight drops back to e6, that would expose both
the c2 pawn and d4 pawn to direct attack, and it looks to me
like Deep Blue is in deep doo-doo. I got trapped into that
one, folks, I'm sorry. I just couldn't get out of it.
MAURICE ASHLEY: Rg2 I must admit to the last couple of moves,
now Kasparov's initiative seems to be growing move by move. It
