Game 2, black 27...dxe5
Commentary for black move 27:
PATRICK WOLFF: Riley, he completely turned over the team. He
got himself 11 new players out of 12. So basically the Miami
Heat were not the Miami Heat anymore. They were a completely
new group of players with a new coach. And so the old scouting
reports on them pretty much went out the window. And for the
other teams to have to play against Miami, it was a difficult
situation because they didn't know what to expect.
Now, if I recall, there were no teams that went protesting to
David Stern about "This is a very unfair situation. We don't
have any material on this Miami Heat team. The Miami Heat
should be required to send us videotape of their practice
sessions so that we know what they're going to do." Well, this
seems to be very similar to this situation. The fact of the
matter is that Deep Blue did not play any public tournaments or
matches. It's a research project, and we were constantly
changing things and working on the program, and if we had to
play in tournaments, that would take away from our ability to
keep experimenting, because we would constantly have to have a
stable and -- version that was ready to play in tournaments.
So this way, we were able to put all our efforts into improving
the program and get ready for this match, which is extremely
important.
