Edna Grossman
Brief BiographyEdna Grossman is a consultant with IBM's Global Business Intelligence Practice. She specializes in using advanced mathematical and statistical techniques to help clients realize competitive advantage from their vast store of customer data. Edna is currently working with members of the data abstraction group in a joint development project with an insurance client. The goal of the project is to improve underwriting profitability by using statistical machine learning algorithms to better predict the frequency and severity of claims. Before joining the Global Business Intelligence Practice, Edna was involved in developing mathematical business models for various organizations within IBM. Her projects included a model for forecasting the residual value of machines financed by IBM Credit Corporation and an opportunity analysis model used extensively by IBM sales organizations. Edna's first position at IBM was in the Mathematical Sciences department working on IBM's data encryption product, DES. She also did research in combinatorial group theory. Edna received her B.S. in mathematics from
Brooklyn College. She received her
M.S. and
Ph.D. in mathematics from New York
University's
Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences.
She is a member of the Association
for Women
in Mathematics. |
