Wlodek Zadrozny

Biography

Wlodek W. Zadrozny has over 10 years of R&D management at IBM and 15 years of experience at IBM Research, ranging from pure research to product development and technical planning. Since the end of 2001, Wlodek is coordinating the activities of the Search and Text Analysis Institute at IBM Research. In his previous position, in Technical Strategy and Worldwide Operations Dept., Wlodek was responsible for evaluation of IBM technical strategies and new technologies, as well as the IBM's position to influence their development. He was also involved in preparing the Global Technology Outlook for 2001 and 2002. Previously as Manager of Conversational Machines, Wlodek lead the development of interactions systems using speech and natural language. The group's customers included IBM Personal Systems Group, two large US banks and a large Canadian bank.

Wlodek Zadrozny received a Ph.D. in Mathematics, with highest distinction, from Polish Academy of Science. He's also the recipient of A. von Humboldt and H.B.Curry fellowships. He has 10 patents granted and 20 patents pending. Wlodek published over 50 refereed publications it top scientific journals and conferences, and is a member of editorial boards and program committees. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, member of ACM, AAAI, and ACL.
