TBLP Details

The flight detail pages show TBLP data from the official IAC scoring program. That program records a TBLP result score for each pilot for each flight.

An experimental implementation of TBLP, which we will call "eTBLP" for clarity, provided a look under the covers at the intermediate values used in the TBLP calculation.

Popup boxes on the flight detail pages display the intermediate values. The popups will appear under the mouse cursor in four places, as detailed below.

Pilot details

The image on the left demonstrates the popup over the pilot result. You can compare the rank and score from TBLP on the page with the rank and score from eTBLP in the popup. The popup provides four detail values from the eTBLP calculation:

Pa
The Phase II average of the normalized scores for all judges of this pilot.
Psd
The Phase II standard deviation of the normalized scores.
PsdClipped
True if eTBLP clipped the standard deviation to a lower bound of 0.03 * Pa.
Wd
The Phase II weight average sum for all judges of this pilot.

Pilot-Figure details

The image on the left demonstrates the popup eTBLP data associated with a pilot and figure. The popup provides four detail eTBLP calculation as follows:

Fa
The Phase I average of the normalized scores for all judges of this pilot and figure.
Fssd
The Phase I standard deviation of the normalized figure scores.
FssdClipped
True if eTBLP clipped the standard deviation to a lower bound of 0.03 * Fa.

Pilot-Judge details

The image on the left demonstrates the popup eTBLP data associated with a pilot and judge. The popup provides detail values from the eTBLP calculation as follows:

R
The result of the Phase I computation input to Phase II for this pilot and judge.
N
The Phase II normalized score for this pilot and judge.
D
The displacement of N from Pa for this pilot and judge, in units of standard deviation (Psd).
Wm
The weight average for this judge and pilot.

This lets you compare the straight total from the judge with the figure-adjusted eTBLP Phase I total (R), and the Phase II normalized total (N). The value for D gives the amount of deviation computed for N.

Pilot-Figure-Judge details

The image on the left demonstrates the popup eTBLP data for an individual grade from a judge.

Ng
The normalized score for this figure, judge, and pilot.
Fd
The displacement of the normalized score in units of standard deviation (Fssd).
Fwm
The weight multiplier eTBLP applied to this score.
Ft
The grade used to compute the Phase I total (R) for this judge and pilot.

This lets you compare the given grade from the judge with the eTBLP normalized grade (Ng). The value for Fd gives the amount of deviation computed for Ng. Decreasing values of Fwm bring the value of Ft away from the given grade toward the average grade.

The colors

Values shown in orange are values that eTBLP adjusted toward the averages from all judges.

Values shown in red are values that eTBLP replaced with the average from all judges.
