Each month, the Computer Science web-page highlights innovative projects in IBM Research. Project of the month is: The CELL architecture: In response to challenges put forward by Sony and Toshiba in 2000, a cross-disciplinary team composed of people from IBM Research, IBM Systems Technology Group and the two external companies embarked on a project to redefine and dramatically increase the computing capabilities of game consoles, providing innovation that would enable a new generation of game systems.
