Embedded Communication Systems Projects

Embedded communication systems add intelligence to devices with only incremental cost, power, and footprint requirements. We are investigating the right design point for intelligent communication interfaces, developing deeper understanding of processing, memory, cost, and power consumption tradeoffs, and creating new OEM, product, and solution opportunities in the rapidly expanding area of embedded networking processors.

Our activities are focused on two main areas: short range wireless and high speed optical. We are building a short range, RF based, embedded networking module called embedded BlueSky (or EB). The aim is to build a low cost, low power, integrated, wireless, smart connectivity solution. The solution is small so that it can be embedded in all kinds of devices with different form factors. We are also developing a low cost, low power optical wavelength division multiplexer designed for stand-alone applications as well as integrated inside switches, routers, servers and storage devices.
