Media companies are amassing hundreds of thousands of hours of video that is not easily searched, making it difficult to re-use or monetize. IBM Research is working with industry partners to address this. For example, 20th Century Fox worked in 2016 with IBM scientists to make a trailer for its new film Morgan. Using experimental Watson APIs, the team analyzed visuals from 100 horror movie trailers to select the best moments from Morgan, creating the first AI-generated movie trailer. Using similar technology, IBM Research helped create AI-generated highlight packages of all the action at Wimbledon and the 2017 Masters Tournament, bringing fans even more of the action.
