Spatial Information Processing Spatial information, including geographic and location data, plays an important role in people's daily life. IBM China Research Lab is conducting research on leveraging spatial information processing in pervasive computing and focuses on Location-Based Services (LBS), Moving Object Database (MOD) and spatial data warehousing and OLAP. CRL developed LBS middleware and Java location service client package, which were integrated to IBM WebSphere product family. The location service provided by Location Server supports industry standard such as Parlay Location Service and Web Services. MOD manages locations of large volume of moving objects and providing functionalities such as tracking, querying and spatial trigger. MOD targets at the platform supporting advanced intelligent location-aware applications, for example, spatial publish/subscription services. Spatial data warehousing integrates the spatial information hidden in current data stores into central spatial data warehouse, from which the innovative spatial OLAP technology developed in CRL facilitates decision makers to gain more information and knowledge. Introduction of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)
project SIP is a protocol that could be used in call control/instant messaging and presence. It is the signaling to be used in 3G. In IBM CRL, we have rolled out a series of SIP components including SIP client which could be used in VoIP communication and instant messaging, we have SIP server which could be used to execute call routing functions, we have SIP application server, which provide programming capability for complex IP telephony applications, we have SIP client on J2ME devices which could be used to sent instant messages on mobile phone. Our goal is to provide a platform to easily develop new application for converged services which utilize Web/voice/instant message technologies and also provide several service template for the customers. |
